Arkansas considering tort reform amendment to state constitution

I’m not going to look it up, but I bet Andrea Lea got a nice amount of campaign contributions from the insurance industry.

House State Agencies and Governmental Affairs Chairwoman Rep. Andrea Lea, R-Russellville, says consensus is forming for a proposed constitutional amendment on tort reform, and she sees other ideas gaining traction.

The amendment that sounds even more interesting is this one:

HJR1018 – TO AMEND THE ARKANSAS CONSTITUTION CONCERNING THE APPLICATION OF ARKANSAS LAW AND UNITED STATES LAW

Probably some moronic attempt to say that the United States can’t force Arkansas to implement some Obama policy.  Because southern states have a rich tradition of success  in opting out of federal government policies they don’t like.
