Insurance bad faith claims.  Any time there is a natural disaster a few bad actor insurance companies drag their feet or deny legitimate claims.  Looks like a couple of NY insurers are being investigated for potentially engaging in that kind of alleged conduct.  (Probably should have thrown a purportedly in there for safety’s sake.)

New York State is investigating three insurance companies that are generating a higher-than-average percentage of complaints from Hurricane Sandy victims.

The insurers are Narragansett Bay, Tower and Kingstone.

The Department of Financial Services wants to find out if the companies are failing to send adjusters and process claims on time.
